Setting Your Browser Preferences for the Web POW System

You should be using Netscape Navigator v4.03 or higher OR Internet Explorer v4.0. We have experienced some problems using versions of Internet Explorer higher than 4.0 on the Macintosh, so we are advising you to use version 4.0.

If you are printing the longer reports, you will experience a lenghty delay if you are using Netscape Navigator. For faster printing of long reports, use Internet Explorer. If you do use Netscape Navigator, be aware that even though the computer seems to have locked up, if you wait a while longer, the report will print and the computer will continue to function properly.

There are some settings that need to be made to help the POW process along as much as possible.

For Netscape Navigator:

  1. From the Edit menu choose Preferences...
  2. Click on Advanced (along the left sidebar)
  3. Make sure Enable Java and Java Scripts are both checked
Note: sometimes the Enable Jave choice is not available, ignore that and just check Java Scripts.
  4. Click on Accept all Cookies
  5. Turn down the arrow pointer for the Advanced section
  6. Click on Cache
  7. Click on Every time.
  8. Quit and reopen Netscape Navigator.
